Video Profile of Kebe’s African Fashions

I just stumbled across this Youtube video profiling Kebe’s African Fashions (1547 Fulton Street). It’s a bit on the long side – approximately thirteen and a half minutes long – but I thought I’d share it. The video is a profile of Kebe’s by a woman from Japan who moved to Bed-Stuy. Kebe, who is originally from Senegal, designs clothing for African, African-American, white and Asian clients. Some clients do African dancing, and some are just taken with the vibrant fabrics in the shop. Kebe supports his family – most of whom still live in Senegal – from his work in the store. I think this video demonstrates the intersection of the various cultures that are now calling Bed-Stuy home.
