Art, Wine, Trees: Your Guide to a Bed-Stuy Weekend

We’ve got a classy weekend planned for you.

Thursday (Dec. 1)  starts with a bit of sophistication and culture at the Skylight Gallery. Brooklyn-based photographer, Laylah Amatullah Barrayn, will be exhibiting 35 portraits of contemporary female writers of the African Diaspora. The exhibit is titled Her Word As Witness and Thursday is the opening from 6 – 9pm. The gallery is located on the 3rd floor of Restoration Plaza (1368 Fulton St  Brooklyn, New York 11216).

Friday (Dec. 2) you can bring a bunch of friends to Therapy Wine Bar for their First Friday Christmas Party and talk about how moved everyone was by last night’s photography exhibit. Other topics of conversation include how much better your Thanksgiving turkey was, and the unseasonably warm weekend weather.

Come Saturday (Dec. 3), if those friends still like you after all that turkey bragging, you can bring ’em along to Restoration Plaza’s tree giveaway. Nothing says friend I love you better than a woody perennial plant. These are not Christmas trees, but I’m sure Santa wouldn’t mind if you cheated a bit this year. I mean times are tough, you take a free tree where you can! They will be giving away trees from 1-3 and I’d plan to be there early, since they’ll bemoving like hotcakes! For questions, contact Jedidah Baptiste, BSRC at 718-636-6973.
